About the UCan team
At U Can Music school we are all crazy! Yes that’s right, crazy about teaching music! So much so that we have all given up other jobs to teach music! We love it. We love teaching, watching people reach their potential, unravelling the squiggly notes on the page for people, bringing those squiggly notes to life. We love putting on concerts, watching students grow in confidence, seeing the pleasure on their face as they perform something they thought one time impossible, seeing the pleasure on other peoples faces as they watch how the hard work has paid off. We love finding the best way to teach you.
So whether its piano, violin or singing with The Big Belfast Choir, come and join us on your own musical adventure. Book online now and see where the journey takes you. Sing, Rock, Live…Play, Rock, Live…Listen, Learn, Love.

Aoife,
Owner & Founder
Kate,
Piano Expert
After many years living, travelling and working across four continents, Aoife returned to Northern Ireland in 2009 to immerse herself in advanced music teaching studies and is now a qualified Suzuki teacher. The intense training and exposure to the capabilities of even very young children has given her a new obsession of becoming the best music teacher possible.
Aoife embraces the Suzuki philosophy that “Every Child Can” and has expanded this to "Every Adult Can"... thus The Big Belfast Choir was formed in 2013. - a friendly and musical atmosphere for adults to become involved. The choir now has over 70 members and performs regularly in Belfast. Many have never sung in a choir before and are amazed at their success.
Aoife’s top four teaching & philosophy books:
The Talent Code (Daniel Code)
After visiting the world’s greatest talent hotbeds, the author found the pattern common to all of them — certain methods of training, motivation, and coaching. This pattern, which has to do with the fundamental mechanisms through which the brain acquires skill, gives us a new way to think about talent — as well as new tools with which we can unlock our own talents and those of our kids.
Mindset (Carol Dweck)
As this shows how being mastery-oriented is about having the right mind set.The right mind set helps us become more able and achieve what we want.
Improve your teaching (Paul Harris)
Learning to play an instrument or sing opens up so many wonderful opportunities that can transport us out of the the routines of daily life. Simultaneous learning helps us teach in a way that we really understand what we are doing and learning so we can all pursue music-making on our own.
